The Iowa State University Department of Music and Theatre offers a string curriculum that provides one of the most intensive and student focused educations of any music school in the United States today. At Iowa State, students are immersed in a program that provides extensive faculty interaction while developing specific skills for each instrument and the additional skills needed to be leaders in the larger musical community.
Our faculty are active internationally and are engaged as performers, lecturers, and master clinicians. We offer abundant performance opportunities through our symphonic and chamber orchestras, extensive chamber ensembles, opera and musical theatre productions, and excellent facilities that offer students an ideal environment to become skilled professionals.
