Theatre and Performing Arts Scholarship Opportunities for Incoming Students planning to major in Performing Arts

Scholarships are made possible through the Transforming Liberal Arts and Sciences Endowment's Theatre Excellence Fund.

Step 1: Apply and be offered admission to Iowa State University by March 28, 2024.

Step 2: Apply for scholarships via Iowa State University's One App Scholarship by March 28, 2024. The One App Scholarship portal will open September 20, 2023. Once you have submitted the general and college portions of OneApp, look for the Recommended Opportunity: Department of Music and Theatre - Theatre/Performing Arts. To be eligible for the Incoming Student Scholarships students must plan to major in Performing Arts. 

Step 3: An audition or portfolio review is required. An audition video or portfolio may be uploaded in One App OR you may contact to schedule an in-person audition. 

  • Performers, please prepare a 2-3 minute audition package which includes two contrasting pieces, one of which may be a song. (No accompanist is provided. Please supply music on an Mp3 player.)
  • Designers and Technicians, please prepare a digital or hard copy portfolio which contains examples of your work.
  • Dancers, please prepare two 1-2 minute contrasting dance pieces. Mp3 player amplification will be provided.



Additional Details:

Man operates a light board backstage Eligibility: Open to students who plan to enter Iowa State University as freshmen or transfer students and pursue a major in performing arts. This award can be stacked with other ISU scholarships you may receive. 

 Award Detail:  $8,000. $1000 per semester, renewable for four years.
