Theatre and Performing Arts Scholarship Opportunities for Incoming Students planning to major in Performing Arts

(incoming freshmen and incoming transfer students)

Scholarships are made possible through the Transforming Liberal Arts and Sciences Endowment's Theatre Excellence Fund.

 

Step 1: Apply for admission to Iowa State University by November 15

Step 2: Apply via Iowa State University's One App Scholarship and select your interest in Theatre and Performing Arts Scholarships by November 15. To be eligible for the Incoming Student Scholarships students must plan to major in Performing Arts. 

Step 3: Audition and/or present your portfolio at the Iowa Thespian Festival on November 10 or at our On Campus Interview/Audition Day on Saturday, November 3. 

If you are not attending the Iowa Thespian Festival, please prepare the following:

Performers, please prepare a 2-3 minute audition package which includes two contrasting pieces, one of which may be a song. (An accompanist will be provided.)

Designers and Technicians, please prepare a digital or hard copy portfolio which contains examples of your work.

Dancers, please prepare two 1-2 minute contrasting dance pieces. Mp3 player amplification will be provided.

Everyone will also participate in an informal interview with Theatre and Performing Arts faculty.

 

Available Scholarships for Incoming Students:

 

ISU Theatre Performance and Production Scholarship (1-2 per year)

Criteria: Open to students who plan to enter Iowa State University as freshmen or transfer students and pursue a major in performing arts. 

Award Detail:  $1000 per semester, renewable for four years. 

 

ISU Theatre Emerging Citizen-Artist Scholarship (1-2 per year)

Criteria: Open to students who plan to enter Iowa State University as freshmen or transfer students and pursue a major in performing arts. Students must have demonstrated leadership in school or community activities or organizations. 

Award Detail:  $1000 per semester, renewable for four years. 

 

ISU Theatre Diversity in Performing Arts Scholarship (1-2 per year)

Criteria: Open to students from historically underrepresented populations who plan to enter Iowa State University as freshmen or transfer students and pursue a major in performing arts.

Award Detail:  $1000 per semester, renewable for four years.
