What are you involved with here at ISU and beyond?

Before I started my music education degree, I was fortunate to be cast in The Magic Flute, an ISU Opera Studio production. After joining the music program, I enjoyed singing alongside the members of the Iowa State Singers. I also worked as the Assistant Director for the Ames Children’s Choir, and I am currently serving as the Choir Director at Memorial Lutheran Church.

What are you doing/looking forward to this semester?

For student teaching, I am training with the music faculty members and with Mr. Brimeyer and Mr. Edgeton, who are the choir directors at Urbandale High School.

What is your favorite thing about your experiences at Iowa State?

It will always be the people whom I met here. From Professor Creswell, Professor Goble, and all the other professors to my fellow students who have supported me through this crazy journey, I will be forever grateful for their kind consideration and generosity.

Why did you choose the Dept. of Music and Theatre at ISU?

It was because of the amazing faculty at the Music Department.

What are you interests beyond music and theatre?

I love reading books about life. I also enjoy gardening while listening to the water as it falls on the plants.

What are your plans after graduation?

I need to take a little break for myself. After that, we’ll see what happens :)

Any words of wisdom for prospective students?

Try to manage a good work-life balance. It can be easy to just constantly focus on schoolwork, but you need to leave some time for yourself. You’ll be happier that way.
