In addition to Music, what are you involved with here at ISU and beyond?
In addition to being a music major, I am involved in many ensembles. I have been in the Cyclone Marching Band for four years while being the mellophone captain for 2 years. I have been involved in the ISU wind ensemble, orchestra, women's basketball pep band, and Cyclone Sound. I am also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, a band service fraternity, and served as Vice President last year. Additionally, I was the student conductor for the concert band last semester and was able to conduct a piece on the ensemble's concerts!

What music projects are you working on right now, have coming up, or have recently completed?
I recently completed my senior recital last November and have begun student teaching! Getting to be in the classroom has been incredible so far and I am excited to continue my teaching journey!

What is your favorite thing about your experience at Iowa State?
My favorite thing about my experience at Iowa State has been being a member of the ISUCF'V'MB. This group has given me so many once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I have traveled to New York to play on the View, Memphis and Orlando for bowl games, and to Kansas City and Knoxville for basketball. Playing in Jack Trice with 350 other people who love marching band is a feeling that can't be beaten. Not only that, but the marching band introduced me to some of my best friends. The community within the ISUCF'V'MB is so supportive and special.

Why did you choose the Department of Music and Theatre?
I chose the Department of Music and Theatre at ISU for many reasons. Not only were the faculty welcoming and kind, but the department as a whole radiated a sense of warmth and acceptance. But the main reason I chose Iowa State was the ISUCF'V'MB. I spent years attending football games, step shows, and band extravaganzas supporting my older brother in marching band. Watching the band and seeing the energy and joy the members had made me realize that I wanted to be a part of that group.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I hope to teach band at a school in Iowa!

Any words of wisdom for prospective students?
My advice is to take as many opportunities as you can! Don't let fear hold you back from trying something new!
