“Let us try, before we die, to make some sense of life.”
Candide is an innocent young man who lives in a beautiful castle and believes he is living in the best world possible and that whatever happens is for the best. When he is banished and forced to travel through the world, he discovers that he may have been mistaken. Based on the novel by Voltaire and with music by Leonard Bernstein, Candide is loaded with political and social satire and with music that that is effervescent and joyous.
