“In matters of grave importance, style, not sincerity is the vital thing.”
Oscar Wilde’s trivial comedy for serious people involves two dashing young men who have both taken the name “Earnest” to make themselves more appealing to women. When two women find the name so romantic that they declare they could not love any man who was not named “Earnest,” Jack and Algernon must find a way to keep lying or change their names immediately.
