
Sarah Van Dusen is a Lecturer in Music Education at Iowa State University specializing in K-8 general music and beginning band methods. Prior to her appointment, she taught courses in music and education and led the horn studio at California State University-Chico. She earned a Bachelor in Music Education from Indiana University, a Masters in Horn Performance from the University of Oregon, and a PhD in Music Education from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Dr. Sarah Van Dusen taught general music and band for eleven years in a variety of school settings, directed community orchestra, and performed on the horn. Her research interests include incorporating student diversity into the music classroom, particularly English Language Learners, and the role of music after a crisis. She has presented at numerous conferences locally and nationally including CASMEC, AERA, CMEA, and SMTE.
