After working in a memory care unit of a nursing home, I was able to see firsthand how music benefits people with Alzheimer’s disease. This inspired me to learn more about music therapy, and how it could improve quality of life.
The Department of Music and Theatre appointed Professor Sonja Giles as Associate Chair. Giles is in her 19th year as professor of flute at Iowa State University.
