In addition to Music, what are you involved with here at ISU and beyond?
In addition to taking classes as a music major, I have been a member of Iowa State Singers, a member of Dean Schmittmann’s LAS PULSE, and Vice President, Membership of Sigma Alpha Iota, Sigma Lambda Chapter. I have served as a Music Student Representative and worked with the Ames Youth Choirs. Music remains a constant in my schedule.
What music projects are you working on right now, have coming up, or have recently completed?
I recently completed my Senior Recital in March, performed in Opera Studio’s production of The Miller’s Daughter, and am looking forward to traveling to Norway with the Iowa State Singers this May!
Why did you choose the Department of Music and Theatre?
I chose the Department of Music and Theatre at ISU over other schools because of the warm welcoming community I was greeted with when I was visiting. Being at Iowa State has brought me so many opportunities and great connections to grow and learn from. The Department of Music and Theatre provides a focused program for undergraduates to help ensure their students get the most out of their experience and the best experience. The faculty in this department truly invests in the students who go through this program and have worked with me to help me become the best student I can be. I am forever thankful for my experience here at Iowa State University.
What are your plans after graduation?
After my graduation in December, I plan on substitute teaching and taking a job as a music educator in/near central Iowa!
Any words of wisdom for prospective students?
Enjoy doing the things you love and always find time to do things for yourself :)
