Mary Jo DuPreyMary Jo DuPrey is a renowned vocal coach and award-winning Los Angeles theater director, returning to ISU to direct The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Previously for ISU Theatre, she was the vocal coach for Head Over Heels and directed Night of the Living Dead! The Musical! She is a graduate of Vassar College with an MFA in Directing from UCLA, and is a recipient of the NYU Professional Certification in Filmmaking. She is the personal touring voice teacher for Jon Bon Jovi, and coached Daveed Diggs for his Tony Award Winning performance in Hamilton.

Her teaching roster boasts countless artists in Broadway and National Touring productions. Mary Jo most recently directed the critically acclaimed A Perfect Ganesh by Terrence McNally at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum, Los Angeles. Her many directing credits include the Ovation Nominated August: Osage County, at the Botanicum. Those nominations included Best Production, Large Theater in Los Angeles and Best Director. Mary Jo has been a faculty member at UCLA since 2006. She was an Associate Producer for the Indie Festival Award winning film “Nothing Special,” Karen Black’s last film appearance. As an actress Ms. DuPrey has appeared on stage in countless plays and musicals and most recently has dubbed over 12 foreign films for Netflix. Mary Jo is a member of Equity, SAG-AFTRA, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
