ISU students win awards at the Central Region National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Auditions

Iowa State University was well represented at Central Region NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Student Auditions at the University of Missouri Columbia on October 26-27, 2024.

The audition format consists of three rounds: preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals. In the preliminary round, students are scored against a rubric. They must score an average of 90 or above to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-final round, the top three singers advance to the finals. Those placing or receiving an honorable mention are eligible to advance to the national level of the competition.

Nine ISU students competed in the Central Region NATS Student Auditions. All Iowa State University students advanced to the semi-final round. Five students were given awards in their category, including a 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and two honorable mentions. We are unable to release the names of the students due to the ongoing nature of the competition.

Students eligible for the national competition will submit video auditions in April. National finalists are invited to compete in the National Student Auditions held at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in June of 2025.
