In addition to Theatre, what are you involved with at ISU and beyond? In addition to the classes I take as a music major, I am the President of the Iowa State Singers, I have served as a Music Student Representative and as a music history teaching assistant, and I am involved with music at my church in Ankeny, IA.
What projects are you working on right now, have coming up, or have recently completed? Right now I am preparing for my senior recital, which is closer to the end of this semester. I’ve been able to use all of the knowledge I’ve learned here at ISU in my repertoire and preparation, which has been an incredible experience!
What is your favorite thing about your experiences at Iowa State? Being with the people. I’ve made so many wonderful friends through music and choir and have worked with amazing professors, which has been the best part of getting my degree.
Why did you choose the Department of Music and Theatre at ISU? I chose to be a music major at ISU over other colleges because the department itself is small and close-knit, but outside of that ISU is still big and provides state-college opportunities. At ISU, I get to work very closely with my professors and get a lot of opportunities as an undergraduate, which is really special to have while you’re in college. The small program makes everything personal and you always feel at home!
What are your plans after graduation? I plan to get a job as a music educator, hopefully in/near central Iowa. After I teach for a few years, I want to get a Masters degree to further continue my career as a musician and educator.
