Name: Grant TetmeyerStudent Grant Tetmeyer

Major: Performing Arts and Journalism

Hometown: Johnston, Iowa

Planned Graduation Date: May 2022

What are you involved with here at ISU and beyond? I am a member of ISU's MMA club as well as being a photographer for Iowa State's Athletic Department.

What music and theatre projects are you working on right now or have recently completed? I am currently working on the One-Act Play Festival directing the show Pigeons, which I also wrote. Before that I wrote and filmed an independent student film as well as designed and built a set for Story Theater Company.

What is your favorite thing about your experiences at Iowa State? All the people I have had the opportunity to meet and work with. I have gotten to work with some great scene partners, cast members, writers, photographers and writers that I wouldn't have been able to work with otherwise.

Why did you choose the Department of Music and Theatre at ISU? I came to ISU as an animal ecology major, but quickly found that I wanted to tell stories. I didn't care how, I just wanted to. So I chose the two colleges that would help me do that the best and that was the theater department and the journalism school.

What are your plans after graduation? I hope to get work out in Los Angeles as a photographer as I try to get work in the entertainment industry as a writer and/or director.

Any words of wisdom for prospective students? Don't wait to do something. If you have an idea that you really like and that you really think is good, then don't put off doing it. College offers so much but so little time to make good use of all of it.
