Jennifer Porto honored with Distinguished Alumni Award from Iowa State Department of Music and Theatre

Ames, Iowa - Jennifer Porto, a renowned opera soloist, received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Iowa State University Department of Music and Theatre, at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Honors and Awards Ceremony on Nov. 3.

Porto earned her bachelor of music degree from Iowa State in 2000 and a master’s degree in music and professional studies from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2003. From 2005 to 2019, Porto performed as a soprano soloist with high-level opera houses in Germany, including eight years with the prestigious Oper Leipzig. She is a past recipient of a Fulbright Scholar Award.

In addition to her performing arts career, Porto has specialized in translation and moderation, including moderating the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue. She currently serves as the arts coordinator at NYU Berlin, sharing Berlin’s cultural landscape with a variety of stakeholders.
