Music 102 Honors Report by Emma Theis

photo of Emma TheisAfter working in a memory care unit of a nursing home, I was able to see firsthand how music benefits people with Alzheimer’s disease. This inspired me to learn more about music therapy, and how it could improve quality of life. In this report, I take a deeper look into what exactly Alzheimer’s disease is, how music therapy works, and how evidence-based research supports its use. I examine the experiences of both myself and others, and look at ways it can be incorporated into the lives of those with Alzheimer’s disease.
