What are you involved with here at ISU and beyond?: At ISU I am an active member of the theatre department working as an actor, assistant director, and choreographer. I am involved in Story Theatre Company in Ames where I have choreographed two musicals for them. I am the owner and operator of Heart and Sole Dance and Performing Arts Studio in Cherokee where I have 95 students. I teach many different styles from ballet to musical theatre and everything in between. I am also an active member of the Salt Company ministry group that is through Cornerstone Church here in Ames.

What pieces are you working on right now?: Right now I am assistant directing and choreographing Chasing George Washington, the musical that will take place at ISU this fall. I am also currently choreographing dances for my competition team through my dance studio. They will compete these pieces starting in February.

What is your favorite thing about your experiences at Iowa State?: My favorite thing has been all the opportunities I have been able to have and all the amazing people I have met through these. I have gotten the opportunity to be in four shows at Iowa State and work with some amazing people who have become my best friends. Being in these shows have taught me valuable skills I will always be able to use!

Why did you choose the Dept of Music and Theatre at ISU?: I chose this department because it was a smaller department with big opportunities. It allowed me to grow close relationships with my classmates and professors so I could then continue to grow these into my professional career. It offered me all the different kinds of classes that interested me as well.

What are you interests beyond music and theatre?: My other interests include dancing, reading, and spending time with my family! I also love spending time with my dogs.

What are your plans after graduation?: After graduation I plan to continue running my business. I plan to expand it beyond just dance lessons into voice, acting, and guitar lessons as well.

Any words of wisdom for prospective students?: Don't be afraid to just go for it! Go to those auditions! Sing the hard songs! Try to do things that scare you so that you can push yourself every day to be better and better!
