to Oct 16, 2025 - 2:00 PM

Join us for a grand opening of the Music and Theatre Cyclone Support Space!

This project, inspired by Cyclone Support Central at Parks Library and designed by Music and Theatre students, faculty, and staff, is designed with pockets of quiet spaces for individuals to reflect and recharge amid the challenges of their scholarly work. The space features low, warm lighting, calming colors, and comfortable seating. Visitors can take advantage of resources including books, exercise and nature corners, and a tea station. Cyclone Support resources are also available.

The grand opening event will begin in the Martha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall with introductory remarks followed by an open house in the space (145 Estes Hall) and a reception in Estes Lobby.Estes Hall space a response to student needs

Music and Theatre’s Community Support Committee developed the concept for an Estes Hall support space after participating in the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Student Centered Learning Workshop, which was focused on meeting students individual needs. The committee surveyed students, identified best practices from other campus units and secured a space easily accessible to students from multiple majors. Nearly all of the students surveyed strongly supported the project, and two-thirds felt the space would be used regularly through the academic year.

Music and Theatre gives tremendous thanks to Larry Curry, who moved his office to allow for a larger Cyclone Support Space, as well as the students who offered feedback, and members of the Community Support Committee: Jennifer Rodgers (chair), Nathan Dishman, Mei-Hsuan Huang, Sarah Van Dusen, and Shelby VanNordstrand.
