Roles/Descriptions

Prince Orlofsky is throwing the party of the season and everyone from the chambermaids on up wants a ticket! Eisenstein, Rosalinde and their entire household find themselves thrown into confusion and chaos in this madcap mistaken-identity romp through 1870’s Vienna.  Fully staged operetta with orchestra.

Gabriel von Eisenstein (tenor) - Viennese bachelor sentenced to prison

Rosalinde (full lyric soprano) - Eisenstein’s wife

Adele (coloratura soprano) - Rosalinde’s maid

Ida (soprano) - Adele’s sister

Alfred (gender nonspecific) - A singer/teacher

Dr. Falke (lyric baritone) - notary, and Eisenstein’s friend

Dr. Blind (tenor/baritone) - Eisenstein’s incompetent lawyer

Frank (bass/baritone) - Prison Governor

Prince Orlofsky (mezzo-soprano) - A Russian prince and party host

Yvan (speaking role) - Prince’s valet

Frosch (Speaking role) - A jailer

Stage Intimacy

Scenes including Eisenstein, Rosalinde, Adele, Falke, and Orlofsky may include some surface level contact with other castmates.

*In Act 2, the party scene may include additional musical numbers as well as a large waltz number for the cast. 

Audition Details: Auditions will occur in Simon Estes Music Hall Room 130

  • Wednesday, August 28, 2024 | 6:00-10:00pm
  • Sign up online at Sign Up Genius.
    You will be seen individually within that time period.
  • Callbacks (if necessary): Thursday, August 29, 2024 | 6:00pm

Please prepare a selection in English

  • Aria, song, or musical theatre selection
  • Memorization not required

Accompanist provided, or you may sing with a track

  • If using accompanist, please bring clean copy of sheet music OR email PDF to goblejs@iastate.edu before your audition.

Production Details:

Rehearsals will begin around September 3 and will be generally Sunday-Thursday evenings starting at 6:00pm.

Performances are:
November 6 at 10:00am (School matinee, partial show)
November 7, 8, and 9 at 7:30pm
November 10 at 2:00pm

Credit Availability
2-3 Credits of Music 301A available.
