Facing Our Truth: Ten Minute Plays on Trayvon, Race and Privilege

Written by a diverse group of distinguished playwrights in response to the killing of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of George Zimmerman, these short plays revolve around racial biases, stereotypes, heartbreak, loss and enlightenment. Contains adult language and content.

  • Seeking 11-22 actors that are looking to challenge themselves and take part in also challenging the present and the future....  There is the potential for actors to be cast for more than one role. Specific casting requirements:
    • She/her roles: Black - 2-3   White - 3
    • He/him roles: Black - 5   Hispanic - 1
    • 7-9 roles can be played by any gender, race or ethnicity

  • Audition deadline is February 7th at 5:00 pm.
  • Callbacks (as needed) will occur via Zoom the week of February 8th with casting completed by the end of the week.
  • Rehearsals begin February 15th. Rehearsals will follow the hybrid model. Masks required for in-person rehearsals. Rehearsals are primarily in the evenings, however there will be flexibility.
  • Performances March 25-28, 2021. Will likely occur on stage in Fisher Theater with masks and streamed virtually.
  • Audition material: Upload a video of you performing a 60-90 second contemporary monologue of your choosing. Complete the audition form and upload your video here.
