For all the members of our Cyclone Marching Band, this group is like a home away from home, filled with musicians who often become life-long friends. The Cyclone Marching Band is definitely an exciting experience that you will never forget.
Step 1: Fill out the Application

Upon submission of the form, we will send information and updates as needed.
Step 2: Begin preparation!
Woodwinds and Brass: You will be judged on your playing of an Etude, a short sight reading piece, and marching abilities. Etudes and a link to marching tutorials can be found below.
Drumline: Please visit the Drumline Audition Page for further details. HERE!
Guard: Rookie Color Guard auditions will be held on May 11, 2012. Click HERE for more info.
Twirler: Twirler auditions will be held on May 11, 2013. Follow this link to find more information on Twirler Auditions.
Step 3: Attend the Marching Band meeting during your orientation! There will be a marching band meeting on your second day of summer orientation at 1 p.m. in the Recital Hall of Music Hall. You may also visit the band booth at the Resource Fair during your orientation Day Two. Any questions about marching band auditions should be directed to Steven Smyth at 515-294-3782.
Step 4: Attend Camp!
MOVE IN & MEETING - August 19th 2013New students auditioning for the ISUCF"V"MB will be able to move in to their assigned housing the morning of August 19th(This information will be obtained after the registration form is complete). The early move in fee to the university will be paid by the band. Students should check in to their Resident Hall Registration desk upon arrival.
There will be a meeting at 8:00PM in Martha Ellen Recital Hall of Music Hall for all auditionees to go over camp and audition itineraries and other information.
Rookie Camp - August 20th 2013This camps will be used to teach the marching fundamentals portion of the Audition. You can preview some of this in the marching tutorials created by our 2012 Drum Majors
Auditions - August 21st 2013The audition is a two part audition. Marching - Fundamentals learned during the Rookie Camp. Posture, Forward March, Backward March, and High step. Music - Will be a blind audition over the audition etude found on this website and a short sight reading piece. Results will be announced at 4:00PM, with a full band meeting at 6:00PM.
Band Camp
Those who excel through the audition process will then return the following day for the start of BAND CAMP!!! It will run from August 22nd through August 25th.
