Audition Clinics

2014 Summer Camps

We invite any interested drumline members to join us for any or all of the following dates. You’ll have the chance to meet drumline members, play through the audition music, try out the instruments, and learn more about the Cyclone Marching Band drumline. All camps will be held at the Music Hall in room 102 on the Iowa State campus.

  • Yamaha Sounds of Summer 2014 – Friday/Saturday, June 13 & 14, 2014
  • Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 12:00-5:00pm (RSVP Not Required)
  • Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 12:00-5:00pm (RSVP Not Required)

What to expect:

These camps are designed to allow for individuals to understand how the audition process works and practice with others and the section leader to help prepare for the audition. The section leader or a representative will attend all of the camps and lead the sectional clinics. There will also be an ensemble clinic in which all of the sections will practice material together. We will be going over the posted music as well as pregame and cadences. It is highly advised to come prepared and able to play these parts. If you don’t, this takes away from the advise and and instruction the leaders can give to help you improve and prepare for auditions. The first round of auditions will be based on the posted music.

After-Camp Cookout:

Directly after each ISU Drumline Camp (June 21st and July 19th) there will be a cookout for all attendees at Brookside Park in Ames. Burgers, brats, and other cookout items will be available to anyone who is interested in socializing with other potential members, returning members, section leaders, and staff; just bring a few dollars to contribute if you can. This will be the time for getting to know one another in a low stress environment with football, Frisbee, or just chatting. Because drumline members will be spending so much time with each other next fall, it is recommended (but not required) that auditionees attend and meet their future friends! Rides will be provided to the park, and people will be around until 8:00pm but anyone can leave whenever they like. If you have special dietary needs and wish to come to the cookout or if you have any questions please contact leadership at drumlineguides@iastate.edu
