Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma are a National Honorary Service Fraternity and Sorority for College and University Bandmembers. Anyone who is a member of a university band at Iowa State is eligible to become a member of one of the two groups.
Members of KKΨ and TBΣ are dedicated to serving the bands in any way possible. We usher at band performances and assist in putting up and taking down stages. We also repair chairs and stands, sort music, help prepare mailings and fliers, ready uniforms, and even build podiums and storage boxes. Anything that needs doing, we do.
KKΨ and TBΣ also provide ample opportunities for you to become a better leader. Whether by becoming an officer at the Chapter, District or National level, or by attending workshops and seminars, KKΨ and TBΣ can help you build the skills you need to become a more effective leader. Many of the leadership positions in the bands are held by our members, including Guide and Drum Major positions in the Cyclone Marching Band.
Yes! KKΨ and TBΣ provide great opportunites for you to meet other people who share your interest in music. While not purely social organizations, we do like to have a good time. Chapter barbeques and dinners, broomball games and picnics are just a few of the things we do. We also travel to other Chapters, and to District and National conventions.
Yes. Both KKΨ and TBΣ are co-ed.
Contact the Vice-President of either group. We formally rush during the fall semester, but we are happy to talk to interested people year-round.
