Kevin Schilling is in phased retirement and handles most aspects of advising and curriculum through his roles as Advising Coordinator and Chair of the Department of Music Curriculum Committee. For forty years he taught oboe, bassoon, theory, and chamber music at Iowa State. He earned both the Master of Music and Doctor of Music in oboe performance at Indiana University. With colleague Lynn Zeigler he played oboe, baroque oboe, and bassoon in the duo "Basically Baroque" which performed in Germany, at International Double Reed Society Conferences, around the state of Iowa as part of the Iowa Arts Council's "Arts to Go" program, as well as in several other state. He continues to enjoy private teaching oboe and bassoon students as well as staying active as a performer.
