2006 All State Band - HornMusic SamplesHints from Bret Seebeck# 41This etude flows nicely at a tempo around Eighth note = 66. There are slurs and interval skips throughout the etude that will challenge everyone. Use your Air! It's the best advice I can give. Watch out for the sixteenth and thirty-second note pick-ups and the length of every note. Count! # 62At a tempo of Quarter note = 116, this etude can be played clean. Feel free to play faster or slower depending on your abilities, but remember a clean performance is always better than a sloppy one. Good dynamics and accents give this piece sparkle. Don't forget the Piu moto at he double bar. # 88Played at a tempo of Quarter note = 65, every note can be shaped and controlled. This etude must sing! Otherwise it becomes rather dull. The key signature will strain your brain but practice will alleviate the challenge. Alternate fingerings using the Bb side are a must for the next to last bar with pick-ups. |
